Art Gallery Mozelle opens

It’s been several years since I’ve run the gallery and I was feeling a wee bit rusty as I prepped the rooms, hung the art, and made wall tags over the past few days.  Now that it’s actually open, I feel a sense of relief, and I’m looking forward to old friends – and new – coming in to see the work.

Clean, fresh, and ready for the summer…

I’m showing my new paintings, jewelry, an assortment of mixed media pieces, as well as photography by my very talented daughter, Cynthia Farr-Weinfeld, and very hip recycled bags by Julia Ventresco of One Woman Studio.

And then there’s Max…

Do I look like an art lover??

I think he’s going to make a great “shop dog.”  Not to mention, he’s a real conversation starter…  “Is he a…?”  Nope, he’s a Standard Poodle puppy.

Arts Well Represented at Stonington Farmers Market

 

The Stonington Farmers Market

There are more than 22 fine artists and craftspeople exhibiting their work at the ever popular Stonington Farmers Market in Stonington on Fridays from 10 AM to noon. Joining the fresh produce, seafood, meats, bakery items, prepared food vendors, and community of non-profit orgs that make this one of the liveliest markets in Maine, the artisans are a big draw for the market which attracts upward of 1200+ visitors each market during the months of July and August. The market opened on May 28th and will continue to be open–rain or shine–through middle of October. Check the website for directions, vendor directory, and market news.

Stonington Galleries First Friday Open Gallery Nights will take place on First Fridays from July until October, as well as an island-wide gallery walk on  Friday, June 18th for the Lupine Festival. Each reception goes from 4 to 7 p.m.

Frederica Marshall Leads Art Trip to China

One of Deer Isle’s most interesting artists in residence is Frederica Marshall. Having mastered the Japanese art of Sumi-e painting during her 30 years living in Japan, Marshall teaches the technique from her art school / gallery in Deer Isle. She is hosting a workshop trip to China in March 2010.
